Fact 1 – Workplace bullying can occur in various ways.

In general, workplace bullying refers to the act of singling out a coworker for the purpose of intimidating, threatening and/or embarrassing him or her. Fact 2 – Workplace bullying impacts as much as 1 in every 3 U.S. workers.

This fact about workplace bullying may be shocking, as it indicates that this issue could be far more of a problem than you may realize. The tragic fact is that about 33 percent of American employees are currently the subjects of workplace bullying. What may be just as alarming as this are the findings that:

  • More than 50 percent of U.S. workers have reportedly been the victims and/or witnesses of workplace bullying.
  • About 1 in every 5 instances of workplace bullying actually qualifies as harassment.
  • The vast majority of people doing the bullying in workplaces are men, with one study from the New York Times finding that men are the bullies in workplaces about 60 percent of the time.
