In fact, while OSHA does currently have regulations in place to govern how chemicals should be handled in medical facilities, as well as how prevent exposure to bloodborne pathogens, few other OSHA regulations are in effect to protect health care workers.

OSHA officials have cited budget and legislative hurdles to putting more regulations in effect for health care facilities. Regardless of the specific obstacles in place, however, OSHA seems to be dropping the ball in providing health care workers with the same protections (and medical facilities with the same oversights) as other workers (and workplaces) have.
