Some of the ways that office workers can reduce the strain on their eyes include by:

  • Using adjustable monitor arms so that the orientation of monitors can be adjusted throughout the day
  • Getting outside so that the eyes can readjust to natural light (with is far less straining on the eyes then the glares of computer screens)
  • Practicing some eye exercises, including just holding the eyes closed for 15 to 30 seconds to relax the eye muscles.

Tip 6 – Don’t ignore your pain.

Although some people may be used to living with minor aches and pains, when office workers start noticing new pains develop, they should take this sensation seriously, stay alert to whether this pain intensifies overtime and seriously consider seeing a doctor for a proper diagnosis.

By not ignoring the pain, office workers can quickly identify when improper workplace ergonomics (or a lack of them entirely) may be contributing to new physical injuries, such as:

  • Neck injuries
  • Back injuries
  • Wrist injuries
  • Repetitive stress injuries.

Tip 7 – Know when to get help.

While an ounce of prevention is certainly worth a pound of cure when it comes to workplace ergonomics and the development of debilitating on-the-job injuries, there may come a time that office workers will need help from various types of professionals in order to:

  • Further improve their workplace ergonomics
  • Treat any new injuries they’ve developed
  • Pursue workers’ compensation benefits when they are unable to work due to their on-the-job injuries.

So, don’t try to go at it alone if your workplace ergonomics are not quite up to speed, you’ve been hurt at work and/or you need to move forward with a workers’ compensation claim. Trusting experienced professionals to guide you through these processes can be invaluable to your overall physical and psychological wellbeing.
